Gigs!

Still working on The Girl with the Cloak EP but happy to say that the recording part is finished, just needs a bit of mastering and mixing then finally getting it onto CD format! Looking forward to sharing the results - it's been quite a rewarding but difficult process and I have certainly learned a lot as a musician through doing it!

I also have two gigs coming up - the first is on the 3rd March as part of the Fresh Ayr project at Ayr Town Hall, the second is on the 9th March as part of the Songwriters Uncovered series at the Beacon Arts Centre Greenock. Excited to be gigging in these two lovely venues and showcasing the songs from the forthcoming EP.

I also have photos to share and a video diary coming up soon, all EP related. It's exciting times!

If you are interested in tickets, I have some for the Ayr Town Hall gig and can point you in the right direction for the Beacon Arts gig - just get in touch via the contact page :)

New EP

So The Fusioneers debut performance at the Edinburgh Fringe went very well and we got a wonderfully warm reception from the crowd - thanks to all who attended! It was a joy to perform what was the product of roughly 8 months hard work! Keep your eyes peeled for more Fusioneer news - we have some more gigs lined up!

As some of you might already know, I am recording my first solo EP (I may have excitedly posted about this on a particular social media site). This is something I have been working on for about a couple of years and have finally mustered up the courage to do. I am really looking forward to sharing this and hope that you'll enjoy it too. The title of the EP will be 'The Girl With The Cloak' and will include self penned songs. As someone who never even sang openly until about a year and a bit ago I never imagined I would record a solo EP!

I have just finished my first recording session today and it has been challenging but fun (you really have to concentrate and be precise when recording!). I am looking forward to going into the studio to record some more and hopefully it won't be too long before you are able to hear the songs yourself. In the meantime, keep your eyes and ears open on my facebook page - I'll be sharing sneak previews of songs that will be featured on the CD and I have a photo shoot coming up which I'll be sharing photos from!

Oh - and below is a doodle I did of 'The Girl In The Cloak'.

Edinburgh Fringe!!

So this is my first little blog in a while! I've been kept busy with teaching, festivals, rehearsals, amongst many other things. It's been a creative few months - I've been composing new material on my harp, so keep an eye (or an ear) out for me posting some of that!

Another big creative project I've been working on is The Fusioneers. We have been working hard on creating a blend of traditional Scottish and classical Indian music over the past few months and we're all really excited to showcase it at the Edinburgh Fringe on the 20th August this year! The Fusioneers show will be titled 'Barra to Bengal' - an epic musical tale of a Scottish man named Gilleonan who leaves Barra after losing his dearest wife. He travels all the way to Bengal where he meets Tara and a friendship ensues.

It's been a joy to learn so much from this project and exciting to play with some incredibly talented musicians. We have worked so hard on the arrangement and composition of the music and are really excited to share the finished product at the Edinburgh Fringe!

You can find out more and listen to some recordings on the facebook page:

Edinburgh Harp Fest

4/13/2015

An inspiring weekend at the Edinburgh Harp Fest! It was my first time at the festival and I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent there. It started off with a performance at the festival's open stage at the Festival Cafe in which I performed two of my own compositions and my rendition of Caledonia on the harp. I really enjoyed playing and might post a harp video this week of one of said harp compositions (check out the facebook page throughout the week!). After this (whilst chilling with the obligatory post-gig cup o' tea) I listened to other harpists performing at the open stage, really inspiring and great to see such talented harpists. This was followed by a few hours looking around the harpmakers' exhibition. It was a harpist's dream with lots of beautiful harps to try out and getting to meet many other harp enthusiasts!

A beautiful city and fantastic festival, I'll leave you with a picture of the grand Edinburgh Castle I took during my visit.
